A Closer Look at Your Future in Medicine
The virtual interview day is organized to introduce applicants to the many exciting opportunities available to students at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

Multiple Mini Interview
The Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) is designed to provide a holistic assessment of each applicant by giving multiple opportunities to demonstrate strengths. Interviewers include members of the School of Medicine’s interdisciplinary faculty, staff, and student body.

Overall Format
- Total duration: Approximately 90 minutes
- Total stations: 8 interview stations
- 7 scenario-based stations
- 1 open (traditional-style) interview station
- Format: Applicants rotate through a timed circuit
Applicants gain insight into the student experience by meeting and interacting with administrators, faculty, and students throughout the interview day, which includes:
- An introduction by the Associate Dean for Admission
- The Multiple Mini Interview (MMI)
- A non-evaluated mini skills session introducing applicants to the curriculum
- A meet-and-greet lunch session with current students
Those admitted to the Zucker School of Medicine will have an opportunity to visit the school in person.
Each scenario station includes:
- 2 minutes: Read the scenario and prepare your response
- 6 minutes: Discuss the scenario with the interviewer
Purpose of scenario stations:
- Assess important qualities in medical school candidates, such as:
- Critical thinking
- Communication skills
- Ethical reasoning
- Problem-solving ability
- There are no right or wrong answers
- Interviewers evaluate:
- How you think through the situation
- How clearly and effectively you communicate your reasoning
Open Station (1 station)
This station is similar to a traditional one-on-one interview.
- 2 minutes: Preparation time
- 14 minutes: Conversation with the interviewer
Key differences from scenario stations:
- Interviewer has access to your full application
- Discussion may include:
- Your experiences
- Your motivations for medicine
- Your personal backgroung
- Your goals
